A is for 'Arabic Song'
The songs and activities in this letter introduce children to Arabic music through listening, movement and shared singing. As they explore new sounds, languages and rhythms, they begin to understand that music can come from many different places and still be enjoyed together.
Children are gently introduced to real-life stories of people who have had to move away from their homes, helping them begin to understand the idea of belonging and finding safety in a new place.
Through singing, rhythm and call-and-response activities, children build confidence in using their voices while discovering that different languages, sounds and musical styles are all valuable and worth celebrating.
We encourage classroom conversations about how people’s experiences, cultures and backgrounds may differ, while recognising that these differences help to make our world rich, connected and full of meaning.
